Synopsis: A family of five, their two goats and a donkey live in the middle of nowhere far away from their village home. They earn a modest living producing and selling charcoal sourced from the surrounding forestland. The father and son are the only ones who ever return to their native village, while the mother and two daughters have not left their dwelling since the day they abandoned their home 10 years ago. One day, the father decides to provide running water for the family by illegally diverting water onto their land. The three women recoil from the idea, but the teenage son obeys submissively in order to be allowed to continue attending school. The water surging through the pipe parallels the surging resentment the family feels towards the father. He brought them to a new place against their will, and they know the reason they left their home is also the reason they can never return. Nevertheless, the newly running water re-awakens their instinctive desire for the freedom they have been repressing for many years past. Film Title: Off Frame, AKA Revolution Until Victory (2016) Director: Mohanad Yaqubi Date: 24.3.2017 Screening Time: 16:30 Venue: Khashabi Theatre Run Time: 62 minutes Language: English

Synopsis: Off Frame AKA Revolution Until Victory is a meditation on the Palestinian struggle for production and self representation on their own terms in the 1960s and 1970s through the establishment of the PLO’s Palestine Film Unit. Unearthing films stored in archives across the world after unprecedented research, the film begins with popular representations of modern Palestine and traces the works of militant filmmakers in reclaiming image and narrative through revolutionary and militant cinema. In resurrecting a forgotten memory of struggle, the film reanimates what is within the frame, but also weaves a critical reflection by looking for what is outside of it, or what is off frame.
